GLSCL Recap - June 12
The Clippers end the Mariners winning streak. The Scouts enjoy an unlikely come-from-behind walk off. The Joes set season high in a slugfest. The Locos get back on the winning side on the road.
XENIA SCOUTS 14 MICHIGAN MONARCHS 13 - FINAL
GRADY'S FIELD - The Xenia Scouts got up off the deck never leading in the game until Zachary Pearrow's walk off single with the bases loaded driving home Steven Schneider for a 14-13 win over the Michigan Monarchs.
The Scouts trailed through out the night falling behind 5-0 in the second inning after a three-run homer off the bat of Monarchs designated hitter Casey Robertson (High Point).
Xenia (3-4) chipped away never giving up hope and staying within reaching distance the whole night. Center fielder Steven Schneider (Maryville University) did his part hitting a pair of home runs early in the game.
Schneider' first homer hit the left field "fair" poll giving the Scouts its first run of the game. His second blast was a no doubter in the fourth inning easily going over the left center field fence. Schneider became the first GLSCL player to have a multiple home game this season. He reached base in all six of his plate appearances going 3-for-3 with three RBIs along with drawing two walks and being hit by a pitch.
Conventionally thinking would be that Schneider is easily be selected the player of the game. In many cases that would be true but the context of Pearrow's story helps make the viewer understand his selection.

Pearrow, a two-way player coming from Redlands CC, was the pitcher on the mound the night versus Grand Lake before things went sideways.
For the second straight night the Scouts took a lead going into the ninth inning and for the second straight night Xenia came up short.
Things were already starting to go array when Pearrow came into to pitch with runners on the corners, no outs, and trying to protect a 3-1 lead. Pearrow didn't record an out giving up a bunt single, walked two batters and hit a man with the bases loaded giving the Mariners the victory.
Pearrow, who is committed to play next season at UT Dallas, talks in the postgame interview on Friday about giving his testimony after that game to the Grand Lake players and how it helped him get through the situation.
He came out Friday night playing first base and had a much better day then the night before going 3-for-6 with three RBIs and two stolen bases.
The Monarchs (2-5) squandered a great performance at plate by Robertson. The two-way star who was the starting pitcher the night before in Lima, was the designated hitter versus the Scouts. He went 4-for-5 at the plate including his three-run homer.
The Monarchs stay in town looking for redemption on Saturday as the middle game of the series is schedule for 7:05 on Grady's Field at Browne Stadium.

Domey's two-run double followed later by Thelen's two-run triple swinging the momentum towards the Clippers side.
The Clippers (4-3) scored twice more in the seventh and four times in the eighth pulling the game out of reach from another Mariners comeback.
Justin St. Antone (Kellogg CC) was the facilitator out the Clippers leadoff spot in the batting order. St. Antone went 3-for-5 with a double two RBI and two runs scored on the night.
Grand Lake's season starting six-game win streak comes to an end after making the long trip to Muskegon. The Mariners (6-1) couldn't find the late inning magic in this game but look to bounce back on Saturday.
The middle game of the series takes place Saturday at Marsh Field with first pitch schedule for 6:35pm.
