Lima's Guillet takes NACSB Pitcher of the Week

SANFORD, Florida - The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate is proud to announce that Lima Locos left hander Adam Guillet (Louisiana Tech) was named the NACSB Pitcher of the Week.

Guillet pitched a seven-inning complete game one-hit shutout for the Locos in 21-0 victory over the Grand Lake Mariners on July 14. Guillet, making his first start of the season after seven relief appearances, recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. Guillet only allowed two base runners needing just 76 pitches disposing of the Mariners.

This is the first season that the NACSB, National Alliance of Summer Baseball, went with a national player and pitcher of the week awards. The voting consists of all twelve members submitting its weekly player and pitcher of the week for nomination on a national level.

The GLSCL found great success this season with a total of four players coming away with NACSB honors over the course of the summer. Guillet was joined by Locos teammate Cameron Greene (Southeastern Louisiana University commit) and well as a pair of Grand Lake Mariners, Matthew Aldridge (UNC Wilmington commit) and Joe Lafkas (Ball State University).

Aldridge and Lafkas swept the awards in the second week of voting which was after the first week of the GLSCL season. Aldridge started the season with 16 runs scored, 22 total bases, three home runs and six stolen bases. Lafkas notched a GLSCL-leading at the time 16 strikeouts with in two starts with just one walk, a 2-0 record and a 1.80 ERA on the season. Greene took the honor on July 8 after hitting for a .571 batting average with three home runs and 14 RBIs. 

The National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB) is an alliance of twelve college summer leagues that are partially funded by Major League Baseball. Each league and all of their teams are non-profit organizations that support the highest level of collegiate players in their journey to play professional baseball. Members work closely with college baseball programs to ensure player development and eligibility during summer months while maintaining policies that keep player health paramount. This is evidenced by the Alliance's early adoption of the MLB Pitch Smart policy and maintaining a reasonable number of games played across each league. ABOUT THE GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE 

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of eight active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
